About Us

The Southern Association for College Admission Counseling (SACAC), a nonprofit, professional association, was founded in 1966 as a chartered affiliate of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). Over 2,200 members from secondary schools, colleges and universities, independent educational professionals, and community based educational organizations work to promote high professional standards in the college admission process by exchanging ideas, sharing common goals and preparing counselors to serve students in the transition from high school to college. The SACAC region spans the Southeast in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, as well as Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

Membership

Membership in SACAC is $45 per person, and our membership year runs from September 1 to August 31.

SACAC’s Free Access Membership welcomes public high school and community based organization college access counselors and staff in the SACAC region to join at no cost. Any staff member supporting students and families with post-secondary college planning at a public high school that provides free education through public funds as well as professionals who work for a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) that serves students and promotes or provides access to higher education qualify for complimentary Free Access Membership. As of May 2023, SACAC serves over 650 Free Access Members.

SACAC members benefit from professional networking and development, annual conferences, workshops and seminars, our mentorship program, the Info Hub, blog, and legislative information. As a member you’ll be able to apply for grants that make training affordable for even the smallest schools. It’s all a part of your SACAC membership.
